Course Description
This course delves deeper into the anatomy, breathing mechanism, function and physiology of the thorax. Precise advanced techniques will be taught.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, participants will have learned how to;
- Built on the knowledge of the thorax region as learned in VM4.
- Reviewed the myofascial structures of the thorax.
- Explore the hyoid suspensory apparatus, thyroid, tonsils and pharynx.
- Learned more precise techniques for the esophagus, pleura, heart and pericardium.
- Learned how to classify the retropharangeal space.
- Discovered treatment techniques to enhance the breathing mechanism.

From an early age, as a keen basketball player, Kåre took a particular interest in how the body functions and the potential benefits of manual therapy. This experience inspired him to study physiotherapy, graduating from the Copenhagen Physiotherapy School in 1995. Continuing with his thirst for knowledge and understanding of manual therapy, Kåre then went on to study Osteopathy at the International Academy of Osteopathy in Belgium, graduating as a DO in 2006.
After graduating, Kåre continued to seek out different approaches to osteopathy through the many connections he made in the osteopathic community throughout Europe and brought these classes to Denmark. In 2008, Kåre was introduced to Jean-Pierre Barral and subsequently invited him to teach his manual therapy approach in Denmark. Kåre was so inspired by Jean-Pierre's method, that he spent the next several years studying with the Barral Institute.
In 2016, after undergoing an extensive teaching apprenticeship, Kåre was approved to teach for the Barral Institute. He then in 2017 became the Denmark Satellite Director for the Barral Institute. Over the past several years Kåre has continued to develop his teaching abilities and now is approved to teach VM1, VM2, VM3, VM4, MASP & MALE.
Kåre lives in Copenhagen, Denmark and over the last 10 years has been the Co-owner of an Osteopathic clinic in Copenhagen, with his business partner Peter Maack Groes.
